Chapter 6

VOIP is used to make calls over a private network.  VOIP allows users to make calls straight from their computer with a proper adapter.  I actually use Vonage myself which is a VOIP service...  If the router goes down then the phone line does too. :(

Personal Learning Network

My PLN would be designed in a way where the viewers can stay interested and attentive.  The way I would do this would be by avoiding too much information through text.  Including videos, diagrams, and message boards would be key to a successful PLN in my eyes.  Like Blogger, I would give users the ability to post blogs and the ability to comment on others.  This is another great way to keep users interested because they would want to see and understand how others feel about a specific topic.
I wouldn't release the site to the public until I felt that there is a suitable amount of information abilities (video, blog, jing, etc.)  At first the site would be eye catching, but most importantly, fun and easy to use.  Once more and more users begin to use my PLN, I would upgrade the amount of in site abilities users have.

Phase 3

How we completed the assignment

The way we did our assignment was make an outline and then attempt to stick to it....
We stuck with our original idea as a whole, but made a couple changes while recording the final video.

SCRIPT
It was a dark haloween night, the children left their home walking down 5th avenue, little did they know that Morty, the crazy hobo from was weatching, waiting on the rooftops, but they carried on happily awaiting candy.
As the children walk up to the first house, mixed feelings begin to brew inside each of them, excitement and fear of being out alone for the first time without adults, and the promise of candy...If only someone would knock on the door.
“You do it!” They nudged the little police man towards the first house. The doorbell rang, and immediately they were greeted with handfuls of delicious candy. PHEW! It was not nearly as hard as they expected. House after house, piles of candy later, and (most likely) a few cavities later, they get their first disappointment of the night. TOOTHBRUSHES? Where was the candy? The injustice! The nerve! There must be revenge...
*kids throw eggs*
They come to a house at the end of the street literally GLOWING from numerous Halloween decorations. They stop for a moment and stare in amazement. THIS house was different, this house probably had the motherload of all candy stashes awaiting...
With each knock their excitement grows a little more, and on the third knock an old woman slowly opens the door, and greats them with a squeal of delight.
“OOOHHH! LOOK AT THE CUTE COSTUMES!” The woman was clearly hadn’t had company in a while. She immediately began rambling on about her day, friends, the weather, her 12 pet cats; ANYTHING. The kids had their candy, they just wanted to leave, but the cheek-pinching, and cutesy talk continued until one finally mustered up the strength to say his mom wanted him home soon. As they trotted away down the path, they could still hear the woman babbling on about everything and nothing...to her cats...
It was getting late, so the children decided to call this night a success, and head home. It was a good thing too, because all of the houses were beginning to turn off their lights.
Perhaps it was the sugar-rush that gave him the courage, or just sheer stupidity, but the little police man decided to “play it suave” and carry all four bags of candy, in hopes to impress the little princess. Little did he know this was about to prove to be a very bad move...
2nd blocks from the house- hear a crack, footsteps, but can’t see very well Hobo attack!
kids: omfg! little ones run, but police man has too much candy, so he’s trudging and can’t get away. Hobo grabs bag of candy, but police officer doesn’t want to disapoint the lil princess, and he fights for it; they struggle, hobo pushes little boy to the ground, one bag of candy breaks, he gets away with the 3 others, and hobo skips away.
little boy is crying.
a few blocks down, the hobo is in a garbage can/alley, digging into his candy, frothing at the mouth, shaking.
The last scene: little piece of candy is being lifted to his lips, and right as it touches them,  ENNNNNNNNNNNNND

Second Life experience: Phase 1

I found getting into Secondlife at first to be kind of difficult.  I wasn't to interested in the program and was slightly overwhelmed with how in depth it is.  As I began to learn how to control my character and saw how much it was able to do, I spent a couple days messing around with outrageous outfits.  Most of my time was spent in "Junky Monkey", a place where you can find a bunch of free things, mostly clothes.
After seeing all the cool outfits, I started to become interested in Second Life, which made completing the assignment a whole lot easier.
To be honest, my group didn't really get to much work done shortly after the assignment was given.  We all messed around, had fun, and just got used to Second Life as a whole.
