Throughout the chapter I learned some new things and got a good overview on what I already know. The chapter explained how popular the Internet has become, its history, and why it is so important. One of the things I learned was that DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line. I know what DSL is I just never thought about what DSL actually stands for. hahah random I know. I also noticed that the computer/Internet field has a multiple amount of abbreviations for things. It seemed like on every page there was an abbreviation for a term. It's just something I noticed...
As I read, I also learned about how much the internet has evolved. It is amazing how we went from computers that were slow and not graphically enhanced to lightning quick computers today that can connect to the Internet in milliseconds. Don't forget the LCD monitors and the handy wireless mouse. Technology in a whole has evolved so much and present day computers and the Internet are perfect examples of that. Ten years ago having a computer was a want. Today, having some connection to the Internet is close to being a necessity. In order for me to get a decent grade on this blog entry I need the Internet. Without it, I'd have an incomplete for a grade. It goes to show how far the Internet has come and how important it is in present day.
I also found that DSL thing very enlightening, I have DSL I just never knew what it meant.
ReplyDeleteI also had no clue what DSL was, very interesting.
ReplyDeleteIts strange how we ignore common technology terms like that. HTTP,HTML,XHTML,TCP... so many abbreviations to learn though.
