1 - Overview on the web

The beginning of chapter 2 jumps right into what web sites, web pages, and web servers are and their differences. People tend to not know what the difference is between a web site and a web page. To make it easy to understand, a web site is a book and the web pages are, well pages... There are dozens of web sites that are made into web portals. What are they? Web portals are doors to a vast amount of information, news, etc. Common portals are Yahoo, AOL, and MSN. Portals are becoming more and more useful because they introduce people to news they may have not ever been witness to.

Web Servers act as the mother of all websites. In order for a user to recieve a web page on their computer, information must be first transmitted to the web server and then returned back. Every time we type in a web site, the server recognizes that and grants us with the ability to view the desired material.
